As many of you know, Riley is wrapping up her first year of dance. She has spent the last year going two and sometimes three nights a week to practice. The last several weeks have concluded with competitions. All that hard work paid off last week at her final recital of the year. This is where all the girls from her dance company of all ages get together for one last performace for all to see. They recognize the outgoing seniors (4 of them this year), show pictures of the past year, and hand out awards. Well, Riley took home two awards! She received "Hardest Worker" which is given to a dancer in each class that obviously shows who worked the hardest that year. She also received a Revolution Dance Scholarship. They only give out two of these within the whole company, all age groups, and Ri got one of them! Unheard of in any dancers first year. I think I am more excited than she is on this one because she gets free tuition next year. In other words, Dad gets a raise!! We are very proud of her and her hard work and effort this year. One other note, while she worked very hard at dance this year and was very busy with that, she kept her school work up as well. Last week, she received the "Brilliant Bobcat" award. Here are the requirements:
1. Pass off addition facts to 20
2. Pass off subtraction facts to 20
3. Pass of multiplication facts to 10
4. Earn at least 90% average on Spelling test for the year
5. No white slips (discipline notes)
6. Pass off 16 Fry Phrases lists for fluency
7. Complete 6 writing structure assignments taught in class
- Friendly Letter
- Personal narrative
- How – To Paragraph
- Descriptive Paragraph
- Persuasive Essay
- Poetry
8. Complete Research Report as instructed by teacher
9. Complete cursive book as assigned by teacher
10. Participate in Simple Machines Science Fair
11. Label and correctly spell the continents and oceans on a map.
12. No more than 5 absences or 5 tardies for the school year.
13. Complete 5 book reports assigned in class
14. Complete and present a Country Report to the class
15. Read an average of 2 hours a week for the year and record on the
calendar weekly.
One last thing, she was recognized for scoring in the top 10% in the nation on the Iowa Test Scores.

BTW, we are also proud of the boys too. Mitch talks about farting and Caleb talks about pooping.

Way to go RiRi!! Your Grammy is extremely proud of you, and I love you very much. Love those crazy potty-mouth boys too!!! And their father cracks me up. Have fun at "the park".

Riley, you never change! Beautiful, talented, smart, and most importantly...still my girls' best friend! (By far the greatest distinction.) We can't wait to see you, sweetie--we're counting down the hours!
But seriously now...even my 7 month old farts and poops (and would talk about it, if she could make out the words)!! :-) That's AWESOME about the free dance tuition...wohoo! Way to go, girlee!
